Junior Check List
- September
o Make sure you have access to Family Connections, and that your email is current
o Sign up with Ms Kilpatrick for the October PSAT
o Use www.khanacademy.com to work on PSAT preparation
o Sign up to take ASVAB Career Explorations if interested in the military, or needing help figuring out what careers you are best suited for.
- October:
o Take PSAT! All sophomores are automatically signed up
o Attend the local College Fair held at LSC Tomball
o Utilize College SuperMatch in Family Connections to begin identifying potential colleges
- November
o Identify several colleges that you are interested in attending and their admission requirements
o Sign up on college websites
- December
o Review PSAT scores and find out if you are on target for admission
- January
o Check Family Connections for updated class rank and GPA
- February
o Sign up for March SAT
- March
o Take March SAT
o Sign up for April ACT
- April
o Review March SAT scores and find out if you are on track for admissions.
o Take April ACT
- May
o Review April ACT Scores and find our if you are on track for admissions
o Set up a meeting with Mrs. Everett regarding application plans
- Summer
o Volunteer! Hours look great on applications
o Visit colleges and work on application essays and scholarships
Senior Check List
- August
o Pick up schedule and make sure that your courses are set up for a successful senior year
o Make sure you are aware of all college requirements for the colleges to which you are applying
o Work on admission essays and have an English teacher check them
o Create scholarship profiles and begin applying
- September
o Sign up to take ASVAB Career Explorations if interested in the military, or needing help figuring out what careers you are best suited for.
o Sign up for SAT and ACT if needed
o Request recommendation letters if required
o Begin working on applications (let Ms Kilpatrick know if you are preparing an app on CommonApp)
- October:
o Attend the local College Fair held at LSC Tomball
o Visit interested colleges, if you haven’t already
o Attend Financial Aid presentation and begin working on FAFSA
- November
o Begin submitting applications and FAFSA
o Identify collegiate scholarship opportunities and deadlines
- January
o Check Family Connections for updated class rank and GPA
o Begin checking Family Connections for local scholarships
o Send mid-year reports (if required)
o Request letters of recommendation for scholarships
- February-March
o Scholarships, scholarships, scholarships!
o Make sure you have turned in all community service hours
- April
o Follow up on acceptances, make sure housing is situated
o Take TSI if required
- May
o Make sure you are signed up for orientation and have requested final transcript
