GPA and Class Rank

GPAs

All student GPAs (grade point averages) are calculated at the end of each semester.  At MWHS, we calculate GPAs on a weighted 5.0 scale.  All IB/AP/Pre-AP  classes are give a 6.0 credit, but GPAs are still on a 5.0 weighted scale.  Below is a chart that represents how GPA points are calculated.

Some colleges/scholarships ask for GPAs on an unweighted 4.0 GPA. This is a more generic look at a students grades. On a 4.0 scale, advanced class credits are not taken into consideration. Grade points are as follows:

CLASS RANKS

Students are ranked based on their GPA on the weighted 5.0 scale.  These rankings will be given to students at the end of each semester after they have been updated.  Students will be ranked 8 times.

Freshman Year-  end of 1st semester

Freshman Year-  end of 2nd semester

Sophomore Year-  end of 1st semester

Sophomore Year-  end of 2nd semester

Junior Year-  end of 1st semester

Junior Year-  end of 2nd semester

Senior Year-  end of 1st semester

Senior Year-  end of 3rd 9 Weeks (final ranking for graduation)
