My name is Frances Packman and welcome to West Nation for the 2017-2018 school year. This is my 17th year teaching high school and my sixth year in the Magnolia area. My assignment for this year is to teach journalism this year. Newspaper, Intro to Journalism, Photo Journalism and Yearbook fall under the category of this curriculum.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at 281.252.2550. Messages can be left at the front office but contacting via email is always a great way to reach me and allows me to respond during my fifth-period conference. My email address is firstname.lastname@example.org.
Parents wishing for a conference may contact via email and arrange a time to meet to discuss any concerns about your student. Please refer and read the syllabus linked below to see the expectations of each student.
Students are expected to be prepared every day they are in class. Each class follows the TEKS set forth by the state and can be found at http://www.tea.state.tx.us/teks.
Tutorials days are Wednesdays after school until 3:15 p.m. When West Hour begins, students may come to my room on Tuesday or Friday during the B block of the hour, right after A lunch ends to make up work. For newspaper and yearbook students, after school on Wednesday will be designated as catch up or get ahead for deadlines.
I am excited to begin this new phase of teaching in Magnolia West and to share my knowledge of journalism with your student. My personal twitter account is FrancesPackman@MWHSnation
