Welcome!!

I am very excited to have the opportunity to teach your teen at Magnolia West High School!  My family and I relocated to Magnolia from my hometown in New Mexico.  Four years later, it is still so exciting and wonderful to be back in Texas!

I earned my Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education from New Mexico State University, which is located in lovely Las Cruces, New Mexico.  I earned my Masters of Education Guidance and School Counseling from Texas State University, which is located in San Marcos, Texas (also known as San Marvelous to some).  I was a school counselor in Texas for six years prior to moving back to New Mexico.  I also was the gifted education facilitator at Deming High School in New Mexico.

My classes use CANVAS for almost all of their assignments.  Students can find assignments and resources in CANVAS 24-7.  They log into "CLASSLINK from Home" from the applications link under "Students & Parents" on our school webpage.  The code is MagnoliaTX.

Besides teaching at West, I am the sponsor for Science Fair.  If your Mustang has a problem they want to solve or a question to explore, please contact me.  We are trying to dig back into our science roots and find the joy of discovery through science.  Science is about curiosity!

I also coach UIL Academic in Science and Social Studies.  If your Mustang is interested in competing in one of these areas, please contact me () or Tom Wurst (UIL Coordinator) at

Finally, I am very dedicated to helping students be successful and am a highly-qualified teacher in earth and life science and social studies.  My philosophy is that all students are gifted in some way and part of my job is to help them unwrap those gifts.  More importantly, I feel that school is a vessel to prepare students for life after high school.
